The University of Bradford is delighted and proud that Clive Wilson, its Director of Estates and Facilities, has been made MBE in the New Year's Honours list, for services to higher education and sustainability.

Clive joined the University in 2001 and during his time the campus has become one of the most environmentally sustainable in the world. The University was recently named 4th in the world and 2nd in the UK in the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking.

He said: “In the last 15 years we have transformed our urban city campus into a beacon of sustainable development. Our campus has 3 BREEAM outstanding buildings, the country’s first Passivhaus Science Building, high-efficiency refurbishments and green oases for quiet contemplation surrounded by edible plants, fruits and vegetables. Our students learn about how to live a sustainable life through their courses, residences and interaction with our campus. Our utility budget is lower than it was in 2005, over £11m, and we have reduced our carbon emissions by 53%.

“This is a tremendous honour and totally unexpected. I’m very proud but particularly proud for my whole team. This is a reflection on their hard work and dedication and everything that they have achieved.”
