University of Bradford professor shortlisted for national award

is in line for a Lifetime Achiever Award at the Excellence in Diversity Awards. The award honours an individual who has devoted a major portion of their professional life to enhancing the practice of equality and diversity, making significant, innovative, and cumulatively outstanding contributions to the cause.

The ceremony, on May 12th at The Queens Hotel, Leeds, will recognise the contributions of those that have gone above and beyond their corporate social responsibility, tackling issues internally and externally to influence change in the field of equality and diversity.

Professor Archibong leads an international team of researchers on multiple large-scale research projects on representational diversity and inclusive workplaces. These projects include GENOVATE, a European Union funded 3.2 million Euro project which seeks to ensure equal opportunities for women and men by encouraging a more gender-competent management in research, innovation and scientific decision-making bodies, with a particular focus on universities.

She was recognised in the New Year Honours list 2015 for her contributions to higher education and equality during her career, being made a Member of the Order of the British Empire.

She said: “I am thrilled to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award and to be recognised for my work. It is a privilege to work in an institution which is committed to promoting an inclusive workplace and study environment.”
