Bradford University sports and societies to showcase activities for charity

Students at the University of Bradford will showcase their skills and provide opportunities for the public to have a go at sports and activities at a new “Colours Carnival” on Saturday 15 March 2014.

The Carnival, organised by the University of Bradford Union (UBU), will act as the perfect showcase for the voluntary work undertaken by students on a daily basis. It will also raise money for three causes: the Bradford Crocus Cancer Appeal, Team Bradford and Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure.

There will be performances from Cheerleading, African Arts and Ju-Jitsu societies and people of all ages and abilities will be able to try a variety of activities for free or for a small donation. There will also be an opportunity for people to compete in football, tennis and pool tournaments throughout the day.

Gemma Jackson, student organiser of the event, commented: “Team Bradford has really taken off this year, and we wanted to organise something that showcases all the hard work done by sports and societies. So the idea of Colours Carnival was born.

“By getting students, university staff and the local community to come down‎, students have a chance to represent Team Bradford and the University positively, and also fundraise for three deserving charities.”

Colours Carnival will take place in the Student Central from 10am to 4pm.
