Where nursing can take you

Students are joining nursing education at an exciting time for the profession. New nursing standards are replacing old, nursing is high on the global political agenda and 2020 has been declared the Year of the Nurse and Midwife by the World Health Organisation.

It's a rewarding career which provides constant opportunities for professional growth, leadership development and collaborative working. Nurses often work in teams, providing care directly to patients in hospitals, operating theatres, clinics, schools and patient's homes.

As a registered nurse you'll have plenty of options to specialise in areas such as:

  • forensic nurse
  • prison nurse
  • paediatric nurse
  • occupational health nurse
  • army nurse
  • nutrition and fitness nurse
  • mental health nurse
