Safety and security

Campus is a safe, relaxed environment, but our security team are there for our students 24/7.

Security staff patrol all areas of the University on foot and by vehicle throughout the day and night. There is an extensive system of CCTV cameras, intruder alarms and access control in all areas of University property for your safety and security.

The Security and Emergency Services Office is located in the Atrium of the Richmond Building. It is staffed at all times of the day and night, with staff available to help you with any problems that you may have.

SafeZone

Safety at your fingertips

Keeping students safe at the University of Bradford is always our top priority. The SafeZone app is a great way to have peace of mind when you’re studying or having fun on campus.

The SafeZone app is free to download, easy to use and has lots of really useful features:

  • Quickly and discreetly send a location-based alert to our security team whenever you need an immediate emergency response, first aid or any other general assistance
  • Keep up to date through notifications sent directly to your phone if there is an incident on campus
  • ‘Check in’ any time of day to tell us where you are on campus 24/7

Setting up your SafeZone account is easy

  • Download the SafeZone app on Google Play or the App Store by searching for ‘SafeZone’
  • Open the app and enter your University email address
  • You’ll then be redirected to the University of Bradford sign-on page - simply enter your usual University log-in and password
  • You’re all set up and you’ll automatically be linked to the University’s SafeZone region

SafeZone covers both the City Campus and Emm Lane Campus, and our security team will respond to your alerts as soon as they are received. If you need support when you’re not on campus, the app will prompt you to dial 999 for assistance.

Report + Support

Report + Support is an online tool that students and staff can use to report incidents such as:

  • bullying
  • harassment
  • discrimination
  • sexual misconduct
  • hate
  • other behaviour that falls short of what we expect from students and staff at the University.

Reports can be made anonymously or with your details, that is completely up to you.
