Strategic collaborations

At the University of Bradford we are proud of our connections to the region and larger academic community, and this includes working with partner organisations to share and develop our research expertise.

We are currently involved in a number of these collaborative projects, including those described below.

City of Research

We are proud to be a partner in the City of Research initiative, a collaborative approach to sharing health research across Bradford, Airedale and Craven.

The collaboration aims to improve health and wellbeing for communities throughout the region, sharing innovative research and using an inclusive approach to understand and tackle the causes of ill-health and reduce health and education inequalities.

Health and care research is one of our key research themes across the University, with notable examples the great work that takes place at the Digital Health Enterprise Zone and the Wolfson Centre for Applied Health Research.

The Wolfson Centre for Applied Health Research

The Wolfson Centre for Applied Health Research is a partnership between the University of Bradford, University of Leeds and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The centre is a collaborative space where different organisations and initiatives are encouraged to work alongside each other, including the Centre for Applied Education Research, JUMP (Join Us, Move Play) and more, within the themes of Healthy Childhood, Healthy Ageing and Patient Safety and Care Quality.

The World Technology Universities Network

The World Technology Universities Network is a network of global technology universities committed to undertaking cutting-edge, challenge-led research with direct benefits to people and society, and providing education for the next generation of global citizens who will have to respond to the world’s 21st century challenges.

Science Bridges China

The University of Bradford's Science Bridges China is an international research platform in advanced materials for healthcare. SBC is led by the Polymer Interdisciplinary Research Centre (Polymer IRC), in collaboration with five leading research institutes at the University of Bradford.

It brings together scientists, companies and hospitals from the UK and China to develop areas in drug discovery, drug delivery and medical technology. It supports collaborative research and open innovation activities, with a focus on research community building.

The SAFI Consortium

The SAFI consortium is formed by the University of Bradford and AIRBUS S.A.S, STELLANTIS and RENAULT SAS.

The scope of SAFI is to design, develop, and market instructional products and services (courses, workshops, demos, etc) for the automotive and aerospace industries. SAFI is committed to high quality instructional and educational training, and provides a core deliverable of programmes, courses, and learning objects for the distance education, distributed learning, and e-learning markets.

The Turing University Network

In 2023, the University of Bradford became a member of the Turing University Network (TUN), organised by the Alan Turing Institute, the UK's national institute for data science and artificial intelligence.

This collaborative network unites researchers across the UK who are passionate about data science and AI.

Here at Bradford, we're actively helping to shape this partnership by promoting a national agenda as part of UK City of Culture 2025.

With its cross-disciplinary and cross-faculty profile, it is an opportunity open to the entire research community (academics, research staff and students).

We're leveraging our research expertise to enhance societal understanding of data science and AI, particularly in areas like natural language processing, machine learning, and communications.
