The versatile biomedical applications of bismuth-based nanoparticles
Dr Farshid Sefat is studying nanosized forms of bismuth materials and their expanded use as a therapeutic, diagnostic, biosensing and regenerative property.
Bismuth is a chemical element that has been used in optical, chemical, electronics and engineering fields. But it is now being considered for use in biomedicine because it is safe, stable, versatile and cost-effective to process.
The materials are expected to have antibacterial effects, bone regeneration potential and tumour growth suppression.
