Professor David Elliott
Professor of Clinical Vision Science
Expertise: Clinical vision science
Professor Elliott and his colleagues' research investigates the link between vision, spectacle correction and falls in older people and led to awards from the American Academy of Optometry (Glenn Fry 2013 and William Feinbloom 2018 awards).
This research on how appropriate spectacle prescribing can help provide safer gait and avoid falls in older, frail people now forms the basis of not only new national guidelines (College of Optometrists), but also international guidelines (European Council of Optometrists and Optics; Optometry Australia).
Professor Elliott is also the editor of the leading textbook Clinical Procedures in Primary Eye Care (Elsevier, 2020), now in its 5th edition.
