Dr Eleanor Bryant

Associate Professor in Health and Eating Behaviour Psychology

Expertise: Diet and behaviour, appetite, psychology, obesity

Dr Bryant’s research is focused on understanding eating behaviour in children and adults. She is particularly interested in investigating psychological traits and how they impact weight management. 

Her PhD, carried out at the Institute of Psychological Sciences, University of Leeds, was on Understanding Disinhibition and its Influences on Eating Behaviour and Appetite. Afterwards, she worked as a researcher on a clinical trial examining the effects of a new anti-obesity drug. 

Since coming to Bradford in 2007, Dr Bryant has set up an Eating Behaviour Laboratory at the University and developed the MSc Psychology of Health and Wellbeing, which she currently leads. In 2015, she was a finalist for Inspirational Woman of the Year Bradford, and in 2019, Dr Bryant was nominated for a Teaching Excellence Award at the university. 

Dr Bryant is also involved in Dying to Talk, a collaboration between the Universities of Bradford and Wolverhampton and several charities, to spark conversations and disseminate knowledge about death, dying and bereavement among young people.
