Professor Klaus Pors
Professor of Chemical Biology
Expertise: Anti-cancer agents, cancer prodrugs, cancer research, drug discovery, stem cells, medicinal chemistry
Professor Pors graduated with a BEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Southern Denmark, at Odense. For his PhD and Postdoctoral research, completed at the University College London’s School of Pharmacy, Professor Pors focused on the discovery of anticancer agents and targeted prodrugs to treat solid tumours.
In 2005 he relocated to Bradford to take up a Yorkshire Cancer Research-funded lecturer and team leader position at the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics (ICT) with focus on the discovery of tumour-selective therapies. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2013 and to Professor of Chemical Biology in 2021.
His current research interests are focused on using both traditional and modern approaches to discovering innovative tool reagents for basic and translational research, agents to target and eradicate cancer stem cells and strategies for the development of cancer-selective therapies.
