Dr Gisela Helfer
Associate Professor in Physiology and Metabolism at University of Bradford
Expertise: Body clocks, circadian rhythms in vertebrates (chronobiology), impact of bi-annual clocks change, circadian rhythm of naked mole rats, hippocampal formation of migratory birds
Dr Helfer is an expert neuroendocrinology and chronobiology. Her research includes the impact of daylight on diet, metabolism; on circadian rhythms and seasonality in vertebrates, which in turn led to research on the central regulation of growth and energy balance.
