University teaching awarded silver status by OfS
The University of Bradford has been awarded 'Silver Status' for its teaching by the Office for Students.
The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) is a national scheme run by the Office for Students (OfS) that aims to encourage higher education providers to improve and deliver excellence in the areas that students care about the most: teaching, learning and achieving positive outcomes from their studies.
Universities and colleges that take part in the TEF receive an overall rating as well as two underpinning ratings – one for the student experience and one for student outcomes.
The University of Bradford gained silver ratings in all categories, meaning it is delivering high quality education and positive outcomes.
Paul Watson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning, Teaching & Student Experience), pictured above, said: "I am delighted to be able to share with you our results in the Teaching Excellence Framework.
"The University of Bradford has received a rating of silver in all three categories - a significant achievement of which all of Team Bradford should be incredibly proud.
"These outcomes endorse our commitment to provide genuinely transformative educational experiences for our students and will provide confidence and reassurance to current and prospective students that they will receive the very best experience at Bradford.

"This is a terrific result, evidencing our commitment to make a difference in everything we do. My thanks to colleagues for all that you continue to do for our University and for our students."
In reaching their decision, the TEF panel found "compelling evidence… there are both very high quality and outstanding features which apply to all the provider’s groups of students, including students from underrepresented groups", noting that this is "consistent with the institution’s goals as an engine for social mobility."
The triple silver rating is retained for four years and follows recent positive results in the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES), Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES), and International Student Barometer (ISB) student surveys.
