University of Bradford and Barclays to support SMEs and start-ups
Webinars offer insight into changing trends and post Covid-19 route to recovery
Barclays are supporting an online presentation in partnership with the University of Bradford, to offer advice to small business start ups and promote growth within the region.
University of Bradford School of Management is part of an elite group of business schools worldwide with the triple-crown of accreditations - AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS.
The online session is part of the university’s Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), a network of SMEs and the School of Management, built up over more than a decade. It will look at how to make the most of new technology and navigate a post-Covid-19 landscape.
Zahir Irani, Pro-Vice Chancellor from the University of Bradford, said “We are pleased that Barclays is able to support our established KTN network that plays a significant role in contributing to thought leadership and providing a platform for businesses and entrepreneurs in the Bradford and broader region to learn and collaborate with leading academics and practitioners”.
Vishanth Weerakkody, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Management, Law & Social Sciences, said: “Covid-19 has caused significant disruption to all types of businesses, none more so than to smaller businesses. During such times of uncertainty, it is essential for businesses to plan for a post Covid-19 recovery and we are pleased that Barclays are able to support this.”
Sankar Sivarajah, Head of School of Management, said: “The school is proud to have maintained this network for the benefit of the small business community. We are now delivering sessions in the virtual word, continuing with a new series on June 1, involving keynote speakers and academics.
“This underlines our continued commitment to the city and puts the economy and priorities quality of life in the local community. The University of Bradford’s School of Management is supporting local businesses to plan for their recovery from the Covid-19 crisis and engaging with 10,000 SMEs to conduct research and build programmes aimed at identifying and responding to key issues faced by those in business.”
Mike Gorman, Market Development Manager for Barclays, said: “Our Barclays colleagues from the Bradford and West Yorkshire teams are proud to be supporting the Knowledge Transfer Network events. Through our relationship with the University of Bradford and the School of Management, we are delighted to be able to share our insight and expertise with the students, to allow them to develop and nurture relationships within the Bradford community. Our purpose is to help our local economy to grow sustainably, while nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs.”
The KTN session will be followed by a series of similar webinars as part of the University’s ‘Bradford Response’ series. Topics include how AI and machine learning can improve your business, why businesses which promote a ‘confidence mindset’ among employees have better staff retention and how Covid-19 has affected employment rights in the UK's gig economy, among others.
