The University of Bradford is offering alumni a 'loyalty fee' for every successful referral to a postgraduate course

The Postgraduate Referral Programme, an extension of the University’s International Referral Programme, rewards people for referring British Nationals and permanent UK residents to commence postgraduate study at Bradford.

The programme is seen as a way for the University to give something back to two of its most important communities, students and graduates, with many of them recommending the University to friends and family.

At a time when people may be considering their career plans or job security, postgraduate study could help to enhance career prospects and pave the way to new employment or jobs with greater earning potential.

The programme was launched in May, at the height of the pandemic, and is one of a number of initiatives introduced by the University to support the local community. Last month, the University announced it was offering a 20 per cent reduction in postgraduate taught tuition fees to help those affected by redundancy during the pandemic.

There’s no limit to the number of referrals each person can make as part of the programme but each referral must be for someone who has not previously studied at the University and should be submitted in advance of their application.

If the referred student successfully enrols and completes their first semester then the University will issue a financial reward to the individual who made the referral.

Further details can be found on the University’s website.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Zahir Irani said: “There are over 30,000 University of Bradford alumni in West Yorkshire and a high percentage of our current students come from the local area, so there’s every chance this programme could benefit the people of West Yorkshire, both in terms of finance and gaining a postgraduate qualification. We already know that our students and alumni are great ambassadors for Bradford and so the programme will reward those who recommend the University to others in the local community. It’s just another way we can help our community at this time.”
