Student nominates PhD supervisor for prestigious award
A University of Bradford professor has been shortlisted for Outstanding Research Supervisor of the Year
Professor of Sociology, Chrissie Rogers, was nominated by one of her PhD students Amy for the THE Award and is up against five other academics to win Outstanding Research Supervisor of the Year.
The THE Awards are widely recognised as the Oscars of the higher education sector, celebrating and reflecting on the extraordinary breadth and depth of the higher education sector.
Chrissie Rogers, Professor of Sociology, said: “I feel humbled to be shortlisted among five other academics, particularly as it is a national award and across disciplines. But importantly, for this award, it is never simply about the supervisor but the relationships that are built with our research students who all come to the table with different biographies, histories and cultures.
“I can simply respond to their needs as a mentor and guide them through their own pathway in the hope they flourish. It is a privilege to work with such an array of talents.”
The winners will be announced at the THE Awards ceremony taking place on Thursday 29 November at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
