Bradford in further league table gains
The University of Bradford has continued to make major strides in higher education league tables.
The University is one of a handful of major climbers in the Complete University Guide 2017 table, rising 10 places from last year to 53rd place among 127 UK institutions.
The national ranking is based on ten measures:
- student satisfaction
- research quality
- research intensity
- entry standards
- student:staff ratio
- spending on academic services
- spending on student facilities
- good honours degrees achieved
- graduate prospects
- completion.
Bradford also ranks in the UK top 10 for five of its subjects – physiotherapy, forensic science, ophthalmics, occupational therapy and medical technology – with nursing (including midwifery), archaeology and chemical engineering all featuring in the top 20.
It follows successive rises in recent years. In the 2016 guide the university rose from 77th to 63rd place, while the year before it had risen from 83rd. The figures mean Bradford has risen 30 places in three years, and this year’s 10-place jump is one of the biggest of any university.
The subject rankings are based on student satisfaction, research quality, research intensity, entry standards and graduate prospects and include 136 universities, university colleges and specialist higher education institutions.

To enjoy one of the biggest rises in the Complete University Guide among UK institutions is testament to the outstanding work we do and a fitting achievement in our 50th anniversary year."
