Accolade for the Archives
In July, the University's Special Collections service was confirmed as a fully Accredited Archive service.
Archive Accreditation is a new standard run by the National Archives which aims to ensure that archive services are properly run, take care of the collections, and offer a high quality of service to the public. In July 2014, Special Collections became the first English university to receive Accreditation, an award that has now been upgraded to 'Full'.
Regular Braduate readers will have Special Collections photographs from the University’s history, but did you know we have many many more treasures? The archive of Bradford’s famous author, J.B. Priestley; the original designs for the Nuclear Disarmament Symbol; and much more, including plenty of archaeology and local history.
Alison Cullingford, Special Collections Librarian at the University, said "the service has exciting plans for the next few years, including a digital library and much improved spaces for collections and researchers. Accreditation will help us raise funds and support for these activities, which will mean better care for the collections, and better public access to them".
