New Technology Lecture Series looks at Cybersecurity

The annual lecture, which has been initiated by Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Brian Cantor, will seek to provide a forum for academics, students, experts in their fields and the public, to discuss areas of work within the University and their relation to society.

The first of the Cantor Technology Lecture Series is titled ‘Cybersecurity futures: the ultimate human-technology challenge?’ The talk will take place on Tuesday, 30 June, 6 -7.30pm and will be delivered by Professor Sadie Creese, a world leading expert on this subject, from the University of Oxford.

The lecture will explore what cybersecurity is and why it matters to society and humanity more broadly. It will give an overview of cyber-attacks, who conducts them, the harm resulting and current approaches to prevention, detection and response. It will also talk about the future of cybersecurity, the challenges and resources needed to keep pace and address them.
