University employee is shortlisted for national award
Director of Student Success in the Academic Development Unit at the University of Bradford, Nadira Mirza, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 'Services to Education' category at the British Muslim Awards 2014.
British Muslims who have made a significant contribution to UK society will be honoured during a celebration evening in Manchester this week.
Director of Student Success in the Academic Development Unit at the University of Bradford, Nadira Mirza, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 'Services to Education' category at the British Muslim Awards 2014.
The Salford City Stadium, Manchester, will play host to the second annual British Muslim Awards, presented by the Islamic Bank of Britain, on Thursday 30 January.
The awards recognise a wide range of achievements which cover various aspects of society including business, charity, sport, arts and culture. The evening will be one of celebration, reflecting the significant role that Britain’s Muslim have in society.
On being nominated Nadira said she was humbled: “It was a complete shock to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award, I had no idea I had even been nominated.
“It will be an honour to spend an evening in the company of such inspiring people and to be celebrating the success of British Muslims from across the Country.”
Last year’s awards were a big success with over 600 individuals attending and thousands of nominations have been received for this year from all over the Country.

The event honours the success and achievements of Britain’s Muslim individuals, groups and business people, as well as raising money for The Well Foundation. Set up in 2008, The Well Foundation aims to raise money to build wells, install hand pumps and establish health and sanitation programs to provide accessible clean water to the stricken regions of the world.
This year’s awards, which are sponsored by the Islamic Bank of Britain, will also welcome Naseem Khan (Nasheed Artist) who will be taking to the stage to perform during the evening.
