MSc Training in Dementia graduate speaks on 'Dementia care in the moment'
MSc Training in Dementia Care graduate Carolyn Shaw was recently the guest speaker at a Home Instead Senior Care meeting on the Isle of Man.
Carolyn, who progressed to the MSc, having already completed her BSc (Hons) Dementia Studies at the University of Bradford spoke on the subject of providing good dementia care “in the moment”; that is, facilitating well-being and enjoyment in the here and now, rather than focusing on losses and deficits.
Carolyn provided the Home Instead team with resources for helping people with dementia with their personal care and led a question and answer session. One caregiver commented "I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. It was very thought provoking and I also have plenty of resources to take away and read”.
