Bradford Student elected as representative on Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Council
Piers Baker, a second year Physiotherapy student from the University of Bradford has been elected as the national student representative on the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) Council.
The CSP council brings together physiotherapy representatives from committees and networks across the UK and meets a number of times a year to support the society, and to positively influence the direction of the physiotherapy profession.
Piers, who is also on the CSP’s Student Executive Committee, will start his one year term this month.
He will be responsible for representing the student body in CSP meetings, contributing to debates and providing feedback for students studying physiotherapy at all UK universities.
“Although daunting at first, the Council members' passion for improving healthcare and supporting members has been inspiring. I hope now to start actively following in their footsteps and am looking to help grow student engagement with the CSP,” comments Piers.
“I also plan to increase student engagement with the CSP’s English Regional Networks and the “Physiotherapy Works” programme, as well as ensuring that Physiotherapy students have a voice on political developments in healthcare in the UK.”
Piers says, “Getting involved with the Student Executive Committee and Council has been an excellent opportunity. It’s a really enthusiastic and supportive team to be a part of and has helped to motivate me during my course. I would recommend the opportunity to any Physiotherapy student.”
There is a strong student presence within the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, with a student representative elected for every year group, on every physiotherapy course across the country.
