Frequently Asked Questions
Applications are assessed using the shortfall model, which looks at the difference between your income and expenditure. We will consider your expected income and expenditure and make a decision on whether or not you are in a position to purchase your own laptop, of if you need assistance.
Successful applicants will receive a laptop on a long-term basis for the full duration of their course. When you complete your studies, or if you leave your course early, you will have to give back the laptop. Technical support will be available throughout the duration of your studies.
We need to confirm your situation to make sure we are completing an accurate assessment. The evidence you provide will help us to see if you qualify for the Laptop Loan Fund as University funds are limited.
Then we will not be able to process your application. Make sure you check you have submitted the correct documents, as otherwise your application will be delayed.
We will be processing applications as quickly as we are able to and we will be in touch as soon as we have news on your application. Please be aware that we do have to wait until you are fully-enrolled on your course of study, before we can make a decision on your application.
We will send an email to your student email address to make you aware of our decision. If your application has been successful, you will be sent ordering instructions so that you can order the laptop via our external partner.
We have a limited number of laptops available through the Laptop Loan Fund so we will not be able to provide laptops to all applicants. If your application is unsuccessful, you can make use of the other computing facilities available to you. Please see our IT Service pages on Sharepoint for more information.
