Mina Hanna earned his Bachelor’s in Quality Control, with a keen interest in international protection, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and refugee issues. Mina’s journey led him to pursue courses in international law, human trafficking, and migrant smuggling in the Middle East and North Africa region at the Centre for Migration and Refugee Studies at the American University in Cairo.

Before pursuing his Master’s degree at the University of Bradford, he contributed to search and rescue operations at the Moria refugee camp in Lesbos, Greece. Additionally, he volunteered at the Al-Naher Albard Palestinian Refugee Camp in Tripoli, Lebanon, demonstrating a deep commitment to the welfare of displaced communities.

In 2014, Mina collaborated with the World Food Programme (WFP) to distribute food vouchers during the Syrian crisis. He later joined UNICEF on a project to integrate Syrian children with the host community in Alexandria, Egypt.

Since 2008, Mina has been involved in projects supporting Iraqi refugees. For over six years, Mina has served as a Senior Protection Assistant with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), contributing significantly to the agency’s mission of safeguarding the rights and well-being of asylum seekers and refugees.

Mina’s lived experiences and professional engagement with various organisations are part of his commitment to international protection and refugee issues.
