Academic Background: Bachelor of Arts, Major in Diplomacy and International Relations with specialisation in East and Southeast Asian Studies, Ateneo de Manila University.

Juan's professional experience covers a wide range of interlinked thematic areas on gender, climate, sustainable development, conflict resolution and participatory governance. He is an international development professional with experience working in the public and private sector, and in multilateral institutions such as UNDP and USAID.
He was a previous Advisor to the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations HQ where he was an interlocutor for global discussions on sustainable development and climate change at the General Assembly and Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). He is also a Local Pathways Fellow under the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, a global network of young leaders that champion pathways for the localisation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Previously, he was a Social Innovation Analyst under UNDP Philippines’ Accelerator Lab tasked to properly guide the implementation of thematic portfolios on grassroots innovation, circular economy, and local convergences. He has demonstrable experience employing systems thinking and systemic design, futures and strategic foresight, solutions mapping and experimentation in the conceptualisation and implementation of development projects and government policies.
