This notebook tells the story of a visit to the Soviet Union in 1932, organised by the Independent Labour Party. The visitors travelled out on the ship Cooperitza. Their itinerary included Leningrad, Kiev and Moscow and incorporated visits to museums, a prison, a workers’ club, a pioneer camp and factories. The notebook contains notes on the tour, a brief history of the USSR, and comments and descriptions of conditions under the Five Year Plan. It is illustrated with photographs, press cuttings and postcards. The identity of its creator is no longer known.
