Visiting other libraries
SCONUL Access Scheme
SCONUL Access is a reciprocal scheme which allows many of our students and academic staff to use other participating university libraries in the UK and Ireland.
Before you apply
- Check the SCONUL Access web page to make sure the library you want to visit is participating in the scheme.
- Ensure that you have no overdue books or fines on your library account.
Applying for SCONUL Access
- Complete the form on the SCONUL Access web page.
You will receive an email confirming whether your application has been approved. This may take a few days, particularly at busy periods of the academic year.
Visiting your chosen university library
- Ensure you have received the application approval email.
- Contact your chosen university library before visiting. This is to ensure you bring everything you need with you and to find out if there are any restrictions on when you can join. Some libraries are unable to accept new members during busy times such as during the start of the academic year and exams.
Note: please be aware that your SCONUL Access can be revoked for serious breaches of the rules at either your home university library or the university library you have joined.
Public libraries
Members of the University may use public libraries in the Bradford area.
