Library Student Event Coordinators
Below you will find information about the role of the Library Student Event Coordinator at the JB Priestley Library. Periodically we will also provide information on recruitment for the forthcoming volunteering periods of 25 hours from September to April.
Our Coordinators will be looking at the following activities.
Planning and organising
- Researching an activity to take place in the library.
- Organising own time to meet commitments and deadlines.
- Communicating effectively with library staff to identify critical tasks and draw up an event schedule.
- Planning a marketing campaign to engage other students.
- Promoting activities and events at library inductions and open days.
- Delivering the activity or event to meet planned objectives and timescales.
- Gathering feedback after an activity or event and evaluating these by drawing out lessons learned and recommendations for improvement.
Team and customer working
- Participating proactively and contributing to the library activity or event, motivating other team members.
- Helping and supporting others in developing and running activities and events.
- Listening actively to other Student Event Coordinators' ideas.
- Respecting others' ideas and building trust with library staff.
Information and digital literacy
- Planning and developing a Discord site for the Library Supporters to communicate with each other and promote events, reading books and libraries in Bradford.
- Creating promotional digital content for the library to post on social media, and using personal channels to raise awareness of events.
Innovation and enterprise
- Using initiative to identify opportunities and develop ideas for new activities and events in the library.
- Solving problems as they occur.

Our Event Coordinators for 2024/25 are Hedaia Abouelezz (MA Peace, Conflict and Development), Khizra Ashraf (MSc Digital and Strategic Marketing), Onyinye Morah and Yaasmeen Omobola Abdulkareem (2nd year BSc Computer Science).
Event Coordinators for 2023/24 were Farwa Asif, Shola Farwar and Suma Farwar. This is some of the feedback they gave us about their time in the role:
