Mario Profili

Dr. Ing. Mario Profili has over twenty eight years of working experience in the earth observation sector. His main areas of expertise are Systems Engineering, Project Management, Space Systems, Ground Segment, Operations, Integrated Logistics Support.

Mario started his career in Thales Alenia Space in 1994, and was promoted to Head of Ground Segment Systems in 2011, being in charge of Ground Segment engineering management activities for Thales Alenia Space Radar Observation programs, and coordinating a team of senior engineers in charge of operational programs, maintenance programs, Research and development, and preparation of proposals.

He has been Ground Segment Chief Software Architect for Thales Alenia Space since 2012. Between 2017 and 2020 Mario was the TAS-I Representative in THALES Inner Source Software (TISS) Community Steering Board.

Since 2017 he has been a Corporate Peer Assessor for Engineering disciplines for Thales Corporate, performing peer assessments to Thales companies in order to evaluate the effectiveness of engineering, and related level of maturity in organization and applied practices.

Mario will lead and deliver the module Ground Satellite Systems in the MSc Satellite Systems Engineering programme.
