Bradford-Renduchintala Centre for Space AI
The Bradford-Renduchintala Centre for Space AI is at the forefront of a paradigm shift towards a low-cost, smart, sustainable, and ubiquitous exploitation of space and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to meet some of the big challenges faced by society.
AI enables fast, optimal, and autonomous decision making. It is at the heart of our research and training in the key areas of satellite communications, earth observation, satellite navigation, network security, distributed systems, signal processing, wireless communications, and reliability.
For us equality, diversity, and inclusion are not just aspirational ideals or legal obligations but part of our DNA. Our ambition is to be the very best, attracting the finest from around the world, nurturing and giving wings to innovative ideas, and producing world-class engineers who are equipped with industry-ready skills to deliver transformative societal impacts.
Our team is diverse, multidisciplinary and multisectoral by design, featuring an exciting mix of top industry experts, distinguished professors, and first-rate researchers.
Our MSc in Satellite Systems Engineering combines a rich blend of peer-commended scholarship, inspirational teaching, industrial collaboration, and cutting-edge research to give our students a complete understanding of key concepts and a strong foundation for a competent, innovative, and successful career in engineering. You can find more information about this MSc, including a competitive £10,000 scholarship and a link to apply online.
Our team has a combined output of more than 100 successful PhD supervisions, so should you be interested in undertaking a doctoral research program of study with us then you can be assured of the very best guidance by a highly experienced team in a world-class research environment. Our research students can collaborate with industry and present their work at leading international events such as the International Communications Satellite Systems Conference (ICSSC), the world’s premier technical conference on its subject and related space technologies.
We partner with industry, from local companies in the Yorkshire region of the UK to multinational high-tech corporations and national space agencies, to upskill staff through short courses and develop novel research solutions in RF, AI, telecommunications, signal processing, network security, satellite communications, earth observation, and other areas of our expertise.
Our in-house miniaturised satellite planned for launch into low earth orbit in the last quarter of 2024 will be a big step in our effort to develop and test low-cost AI-driven space-based technologies.
I hope you will join us in our quest to create the smarter space technologies and skills of the future. Welcome to Bradford!
Message from Dr Murthy Renduchintala
Yorkshire, the City of Bradford, and the University hold a special place in my heart. This was my home for eight very happy years of my life from late 1983 through the summer of 1991. From an academic perspective, the University provided me with the educational foundation that allowed me to fulfill most of my professional dreams. But maybe even more valuable to me (as I look back and reflect) were the indelible memories of the warmth and charm of the people of Bradford and West Yorkshire and, of course, the magnificent Dales. Even though my Family and I reside on the west coast of the USA now, I still return to Yorkshire and the Dales every couple of years or so and am reminded of why I love this place so much. God’s own country indeed...
