We are one of the UK’s leading centres for psychosocial research into living with, and caring for, people with dementia and their families.
The Centre for Applied Dementia Studies is making a substantial on-going contribution to dementia research, education, and training.
- We are creating leaders in health and social care through postgraduate distance learning programmes in applied dementia studies
- We undertake landmark research, with funding from the Medical Research Council, the National Institute of Health Research, the Department of Health and the Alzheimer's Society
- Our Doctoral Training Centre aims to improve all those affected by dementia and has been developing the next generation of applied dementia researchers
Our Centre has been granted Alzheimer Disease International (ADI) accreditation in 2023. ADI accreditation recognises the high-quality dementia care education and training delivered by the Centre and our commitment in providing students with the best possible learning experience and supporting them to improve dementia practice. This accreditation is still unique across the sector.
We offer a range of online postgraduate courses aimed at dementia care practitioners. These are open to both UK and international students.
We deliver a suite of person-centred care training courses and consultancy services for organisations around the UK.
The involvement of families, health care professionals, and volunteers is vital in all areas of our work.
