Entry requirements

Entry requirements are based on the degree apprenticeship standard advanced clinical practitioner level set out by the Institute for Apprenticeships.

Candidates must have:

  • A first degree
  • Current registration with one of the statutory regulators of health and care professions
  • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
  • Secured HEE funding

Professional admission requirements

  • Current registration with the appropriate UK professional body as a member of the following professions eligible (HEE 2021) to undertake independent prescribing:
    • pharmacists
    • physiotherapists
    • podiatrists
    • paramedics
    • nurses
    • midwives
  • At least two years experience working in your professional role (three years for paramedics)
  • An identified workplace supervisor who must have a recognised qualification and at least three years post-qualification experience as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in any of the above professions, or, a medical practitioner/doctor

Learning activities

Learning and teaching is designed to equip students with skills in using a range of information, data, tools and techniques to improve the quality of patient care and health outcomes as well as demonstrate impact and value.  There is a focus on patient safety, risk assessment and risk management within a clinical governance context.

Assessment

Learning will be applied and assessed in practice as well as by theoretical assessment.

Our facilities

The purpose-built Faculty of Health Studies building represents a £10 million investment in health at Bradford.

Our state of the art facilities provide learning environments and simulation equipment that mirrors those found in the NHS.

They are designed to provide the closest possible ‘real-life’ practical experience, under the guidance and supervision of our academic team of experienced healthcare professionals, allowing students to develop their clinical skills ahead of practice placements and employment in the health sector.
