Ketevan Murusidze

I am Ketevan Murusidze from Georgia, and I am studying for a MA in Peace, Conflict and Development at the University of Bradford as a Chevening scholar.

I completed my BA and MA in Political Science at Tbilisi State University.

Before coming to the UK, I worked as a Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant at National Democratic Institute in Georgia. Additionally, I was actively engaged in various peacebuilding activities.

My peacebuilding work counts over six years, and it started by volunteering at a global peacebuilding organization Generations For Peace. I am a founding member and a Chair of Board of Directors of a locally registered non-governmental organization of Generations For Peace – Georgia.

Throughout these years, I have led programmes to build trust and acceptance between youth from different religious backgrounds, to empower youth who have suffered from domestic abuse and violence.

In the latest project, I worked with Azerbaijani, Armenian and Georgian students to strengthen cooperation among participants and engage them in joint civic initiatives.

In addition to my practical work, I was committed to promote peace education in my country. With my colleague, who also studied Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Manchester with a Chevening Scholarship, I developed an interdisciplinary module on Peace Policy Analysis at the Master Programme in Public Policy and Administration at Tbilisi State University in Georgia.

Besides my local peacebuilding work, I gained important experience of working on conflict transformation projects on international level. Being invited by Pan-African Peace Network, I led the Conflict Transformation Programme in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Later, through the 'ifa CrossCulture Internship Programme' I worked at the German organization 'CRISPConflict Simulation', where I facilitated several sessions of Simulation Games with unaccompanied minor refugees in Berlin.

During my spare time, I enjoy hiking, gardening, photography, reading and playing with children.
