Chemistry & Biosciences
Chemistry and Biosciences
Our School of Chemistry and Biosciences brings together two highly active groups of fundamental and applied scientists, providing high quality teaching and research at the University of Bradford. We believe that bringing together Chemistry and Bioscience will equip us for a future in which biology is increasingly dealt with at the molecular level and chemists are looking to biology for inspiration or even using biological techniques to produce compounds.
The School of Chemistry and Biosciences carries out teaching and research across a broad range of fundamental and applied physical sciences, with a remit to develop new compounds and materials, improve our understanding of physical processes and apply that knowledge across a broad range of biological arenas. Thanks to our improved understanding of medical healthcare concerns, fundamental development of drugs and biofunctional materials can be incorporated into future medical technologies.
This school has been established to support research and teaching in both Chemistry and Biosciences, and to facilitate work across this vital interface. Our aim is to build these interactions to become a globally leading institution at the interfaces of Chemistry, Materials and the Biosciences.
Our Research
The School of Chemistry and Biosciences is staffed by a group of very active academic researchers who carry out applied and fundamental research into the natural and physical sciences, publishing their data in top journals across a range of scientific arenas.
Undergraduate students can benefit from their knowledge and experience working at the cutting edge of scientific breakthroughs and postgraduate students will be given the opportunity to work alongside leading researchers in their fields.
We are committed to working at the very highest scientific standards and our work is acknowledged as world leading in several areas.
More information about our research is available at our Research pages.
Our Team
Our team mixes both young, dynamic, ambitious researchers with experienced, world leading experts in their field. This means we have a wealth of international subject experience to share with students across the scientific disciplines and our students have an opportunity to interact with men and women at the forefront of science.
This school was established to support research and teaching in both Chemistry and Biosciences, and to facilitate work across this vital interface. Our aim is to build these interactions to become a globally leading institution at the interfaces of Chemistry, Materials and the Bioscience.
