Why did you apply to the University and why did you choose that course?
I chose the University of Bradford for its openness to non-STEM backgrounds in AI and Data Analytics. Recognising AI's growing importance, I transitioned to a financial data analytics role and found the 'MSc Applied AI and Data Analytics' course a perfect fit. This merges my finance and AI interests, thus aligning with career goals.
What would you say about the University of Bradford and the city to prospective international students?
The University of Bradford, known for its inclusivity, welcomes international students from diverse academic backgrounds. It offers career planning programmes to aid international students in transitioning to the UK job market. Bradford, the city hosting the university, is culturally rich and quite affordable when compared to similar cities, coupled with its easy access to major cities like Leeds and Manchester, making it an attractive choice for international students as it opens up even more opportunities for jobs, travel, and exploration.
What steps did you take to improve your employability whilst at university (and what advice would you give to your fellow international students about improving theirs)?
During my university years, I actively worked on enhancing my employability, and I strongly advise my fellow international students to do the same. I promptly engaged with the University's Career and Employability Services, dedicating time to explore various opportunities and training programmes. Enrolling in the Active Career Planner (ACP) Award, I thoroughly participated in several career planning programmes, acquired new skills through workshops and side engagements, and prioritised the development of a tailored CV and cover letter with the university's guidance. Additionally, I recognised the importance of networking, managed my time effectively, and remained resilient in the face of several job market challenges.

How did Career and Employability Services support you during your time at university?
I brought substantial job experience from Nigeria to the programme, but the Career and Employability Services were instrumental in preparing me for a successful transition into a UK career. They provided comprehensive support, including personalised career counselling, CV/Resume and cover letter workshops, interview preparation, and networking events. This holistic support and online resources ensured I was well-prepared for a successful career transition.
Tell us about your current job and what makes you successful in securing the job? Also state which visa option (e.g., Graduate Route, Skilled Worker Route etc.,) applies to you for this specific role?
Securing my current job as a Management Accountant involved a mix of God’s divine favour, my strong background in finance, and valuable support from my University's Career Services. My prior experience in finance and data analytics made me a competitive candidate. The University's guidance, resources, and practical experience enhanced my employability, and I will be transitioning to the Skilled Worker Route for this role.
