About the Bradford-Renduchintala Enterprise Ecosystem
Our vision
The Bradford-Renduchintala Enterprise Ecosystem’s vision is to establish the University Bradford as the leading university for innovation in the UK.
Studying or working at the University of Bradford will build confidence in becoming an entrepreneur, will facilitate opportunities for creating business or social enterprise, offering an immersive interdisciplinary education and investment programme, supported by an award-winning business school and comprehensive Research and Innovation Services.
Our vision has specifically influenced and shaped by our university strategies:
Our Learning, Teaching and Student Experience strategy focuses on achieving “more than a degree”. It aims to “embed the knowledge, skills and attributes associated with employability, entrepreneurship, and enterprise awareness” in our curriculum and with staff, students, our community and city.
Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusiveness strategy encourages working across faculties, promotes inclusiveness in entrepreneurship across dimensions of gender, community, culture and nation, and builds on our previous entrepreneurship programmes with refugees and asylum seekers.
Our Research and Innovation strategy aims to “deliver internationally leading, interdisciplinary research and innovation that will shape and benefit future societies”.
Our Business and Community Engagement strategy seeks to “enhance pride in Bradford within the University and outside through engaging with the public”, working with employers and funders, and again to “embed and extend enterprise and entrepreneurship provision to students, staff, alumni and others”. It aims to “deploy our inventions and discoveries for societal benefit, to grow our IP licensing, spin-out formation and academic consultancy activities in alignment with our values.
Entrepreneurial journeys
Our goal is that entrepreneurship and innovation will be one of the major reasons why students, researchers and staff will choose to come to Bradford. Students will have the opportunity to develop genuine business ideas within and outside the curriculum. As students progress to Masters and PhD level, they will receive training in entrepreneurship and there will be opportunities to progress business and social enterprise ideas through competitions, seed funding and research commercialisation funding.
Students, researchers, staff, and external entrepreneurs will be encouraged to develop new enterprise ideas and establish start-ups in the city. Our scientific strengths will derive not only from our own research and capabilities, but also through open innovation, our ability to convene, engage and collaborate with the best scientific teams in the world, including our regional university partners. Through objective, robust, formal, and commercial systems, we will back those projects which we believe can earn the best return, for individuals and the University, to power our ecosystem to the next level.
