Hi, I'm Immar. This blog will cover the main meals me and my friends like to have whilst we are at university. Some days we're on campus from 9am to 6pm with long gaps, so it's always nice to have a lovely meal in between. I will cover some of the many food places and meals I often choose.

MyLahore

Situated near Bradford College, MyLahore is the perfect place to go if you want something fancy, but not too fancy. It’s a close walk to University and they don't take too long to bring the food. My go-to items at MyLahore would be the chicken lasagne or chicken parmesan. This is a place I like to go to if I have had a busy day with lots of non-stop lectures because it’s a lovely break and the atmosphere is also nice.

Gigi Hadid pasta

This is a recipe which you can make at home with a few ingredients which you might already have in your cupboard. This timeless recipe went viral on TikTok back in 2021. It combines cheese and double cream to make a thicker sauce. I usually bring this with me if I have lots of work to catch up on whilst I’m at university so I don’t need to go out. It’s super quick and easy to make so you don’t need to spend hours and hours cooking. It’s the perfect recipe if you want something filling yet quick to make.

Here's the recipe:

  • Add any type of oil, preferably virgin olive oil, to your pan
  • Add freshly-minced garlic
  • Add tomato paste and mix with the garlic
  • Add in your heavy cream
  • Add in red pepper flakes
  • Keep stirring until everything is combined, add any other seasoning and then remove the sauce from the heat
  • Make the pasta (use any type you want)
  • Boil the pasta
  • Save a tiny bit of pasta water before draining it
  • Add in butter to the sauce
  • Add your cooked pasta to the sauce mixture, then add the pasta water which you saved
  • Add whichever cheese you would like to
  • Put it on a plate and you’re done

Subway

This is a timeless meal and I do believe that everyone has been to a Subway at least once. This is because it’s cheap, quick and you can have anything you want. You choose your salad and fillings, with lots of options from vegetarian-based to meat-based. I usually get the six-inch chicken tikka sub on 'hearty italian with cheese' bread. However, you can get whichever toppings you would like. And to make things better, it’s right opposite the university - just a minute's walk from campus.

Conclusion

There are multiple places you can go to near campus or you can make your own food. There’s something for everyone - these are just my personal favourites.
