The Eye Clinic follows the University Safeguarding Policy and Procedures. The Clinic will appoint a Safeguarding Lead who will liaise with the University’s Designated Safeguarding Lead for the purposes of the operation of the operation of the University Safeguarding Policy and Procedures within the clinic.
All staff operating in the clinic are registered with the General Optical Council. Students operating in the clinic are supervised by a GOC registered professional at all times.
- All under 18s and adults at risk are identified at the time of booking.
- All under 16s and adults at risk are accompanied by a parent, guardian or carer during physiotherapy appointments. Where two children are accompanied by one parent, they are seen in adjacent rooms and both children are visible to the parent at all times.
Children aged 16-17 may be seen without a parent, guardian or carer. They will be closely supervised by a GOC Registered Optometrist, and will not be fully enclosed in any room during their consultation.
Safeguarding disclosures or concerns arising during eye clinic appointments will follow the University’s Safeguarding Policy and Procedures and will be reported immediately to the University’s Designated Safeguarding Officer.
Clinic users wishing to raise safeguarding concerns arising from their use of the Eye Clinic should report these concerns to the University’s Designated Safeguarding Officer.
Information on Safeguarding will be displayed within the clinic.
The Safeguarding Lead for the Physiotherapy Clinic is Alison Alderson.
