Awards, recognition and the Technicians Commitment
Recognition is one of the four key cornerstones of the Technician Commitment and the University is committed to supporting and encouraging recognition of our technical staff.
There are a number of opportunities for technicians to be recognised for their skills and expertise across a number of nationwide schemes.
Awards relevant to Technicians
Below is a small selection of opportunities that technicians may wish to consider for themselves or their colleagues, however, there is an abundance of award schemes that technicians may become aware of through their work, networking or professional registration.
THE Outstanding Technician of the Year Award
This award is intended to recognise "an individual whose exceptional practical skills, commitment and vision have enabled the highest quality teaching, research or knowledge transfer."
Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Apprentice and Technician of the Year Awards
These awards recognise individuals who stand out from their peers and have made noteworthy achievements in their area of expertise. Individuals who are role models to others and are passionate about promoting engineering to the world.
Women into Science and Engineering (WISE) Technician Award
The purpose of this award is to raise the profile of a technician as a career path for women who want a hands-on practical role. Technicians can share their stories with women who might find their niche as a technician and can nominate themselves, or their colleagues.
The University of Bradford Vice-Chancellor Awards
The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Outstanding Achievement recognise staff and students who have made a major contribution to the life of the University, in particular to achieving the overarching objectives of the University Strategy: excellence; internationalisation; equality and diversity; sustainability.
