Policies and duties
Our policies support us to meet our ambitions to be committed to delivering equal experiences and outcomes, increasing our diversity and providing an inclusive and supportive environment for students, staff and others closely associated with the University.

Equality Impact Assessment (EIA)
Equality Impact Assessments (EIA) help us to centre the consideration of our diverse staff and students within the heart of our decision making and policy development.
Further guidance and EIA forms are available on the Centre for Inclusion & Diversity SharePoint (Note: only available to University of Bradford staff).
Using the EIA, we carefully consider if a proposed policy, procedure, or service could affect different groups of people in different ways, positive and negatively. This then provides the opportunity to make changes to minimise disadvantage and take appropriate steps to eliminate discrimination.
The University's Executive Board has made a commitment that all policy proposals, project plans and strategy documents presented to the board are accompanied by evidence that consideration has been given to an equality impact assessment.
The Equality Act 2010
We have a duty to comply with our legal obligations under the public sector equality duty of the Equality Act 2010 and we are deeply committed to equality of opportunity.
Respect, fairness and inclusion are integral to our culture and values. We strive to apply these to everything we do, from recruiting and developing talented staff through to delivering a rewarding experience to every one of our students.
Our approach to equality goes beyond legal compliance, it is crucial to our core business.
