13th Making Diversity Interventions Count Annual Conference (MDICAC) 2024
The MDICAC brings together renowned scholars, practitioners, thought leaders and students from the UK and internationally to explore and reflect on research and development in Equality/Equity Diversity, and Inclusion.
About the conference
The Centre for Inclusion and Diversity (CfID), University of Bradford hosted the 13th Making Diversity Interventions Count Annual Conference on 23 May 2024.
MDICAC is an opportunity to synthesise and apply knowledge and best practice. The 2024 conference focused on exploring the different interventions for advancing equality, with the objective of informing the development of good practice in the effective use of interventions. The MDICAC is designed to challenge and create elements of discomfort to those who are happy with the status quo. It provides an opportunity for participants to engage with the subject in a thought-provoking way.

Conference themes
We have a broad theme for our conference this year, returning to basics to ask ourselves some critical questions about the direction of the EDI travel so far. We want to carry out an assessment to understand the nature and effectiveness of current diversity interventions in private, public and third sector organisations. The Making Diversity Interventions Count Annual Conference 2024 will provide a platform for taking stock and reflecting on the journey so far into developing and implementing diversity interventions.
We invite critical theoretical and/or empirical research including, but not limited to, the questions listed below. This also includes research and good practices from across all disciplines and sectors, encouraging interdisciplinary and non-traditional research and practice on diversity interventions. The scope of the abstracts for the current call may cover private, public, third sector organisations and government policies and interventions.
