LGBT+ History Month
LGBT+ History Month is an annual month-long observance of past struggles and achievements of LGBTQIA+ people and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements.
In the UK, it takes place every February and was originally created by Schools Out UK. It aims to promote and advance equality, diversity and inclusion.
The 2024 theme is Medicine #UnderTheScope, which celebrates LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to the field of Medicine and Healthcare.
During the month of February, we are showcasing the amazing work of LGBT+ staff across the NHS and in other healthcare settings. We also aim to shine a light on the history of the LGBT+ community’s experience of receiving healthcare and the inequalities that are still present to this day.
At a time when the LGBT+ community is experiencing a rise in hate crime and hate instances we encourage you to look ‘Under the Scope’ and listen to LGBT+ peoples’ lived experiences from LGBT+ people.

Queer South-Asian: We have always been here!

A panel discussion held with a group of South Asian Queers who are here to tell you that we have always been here. The panel will reflect on their experience as a minority within a minority, share personal reflections, and discuss their LGBTQIA+ Queer Icons. The panel aims to highlight the important role intersectionality has played in the LGBTQIA+ liberation movement. We shall talk about the past, the present, and the future of the LGBTQIA+ community.
There will also be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions. Come ready for stereotypes to be broken and a re-imagining of the queer experience.
Past, Present and Future of HIV in the UK

Theatre in the Mill: Right Queer Right Now

RQRN aims to represent contemporary queer arts and culture during LGBTQIA+ history month, our aim is to look outwards and beyond by placing a queer trans people of colour lens on our work. The festival programme is intellectually smooth, emotionally chic and fashionably early in the year.
